The Opted In Podcast is SOOW’s latest digital audio series that discusses recent issues and events surrounding data and its relevance to technology and the greater world. In the podcast, we’ll talk about the way data is used, misused, and how it is changing the world.
The truth is we’ve all become totally dependent on our devices. We openly embrace the things they allow us to do. These devices and the software that runs them are designed to make it very easy for us to use them, thus making our daily lives more convenient.
However, most consumers believe they don’t really have to understand what’s going on with these devices. They don’t think it’s important to consider how the devices interface with the private details of our lives through data collection. Long before digitized data was available, we were well aware of the power of information. Now that we’ve got that information in a digitized form, where does that leave us? How should businesses take care of consumer data?
As a technology company, we are focused on rebuilding the relationship between businesses and consumers. In this episode, our founder Michael Twomey discusses topics such as a recent Australian consumer survey following the Cambridge Analytica scandal to gauge consumers perceptions on data use, the relationship of privacy and the ‘Internet of Things’, and a recent incident in the Philippines where passport data was allegedly stolen by a contractor.
